Non Caravan Sydney Trip - Day 3

2026-04-03

Since we're visiting family on this trip, there isn't much to report from yesterday, but today I toodled off to meet up with John and do a spot of birding. Started off with a quick car charge at Seven Hills and then off further west to collect John and toodle up to Glenbrook, today's potential birding location. We arrived at Glenbrook Lake around midday, found somewhere to park and wandered down to the lake shore. It was a somewhat larger lake than the map suggested, surrounded by reeds, but being the middle of the day we didn't see much at the first spot, so we wandered down to another lake entrance and had a peek there.

Here we found a pair of Australasian Swamphens, a Grey Fantail, and ome probably Buff-bellied Thornbills (didn't manage an ID shot of these).

A little further down the track we spotted a Yellow-faced Honeyeater (but didn't photograph it) and a pair of Eastern Yellow Robins who hung around perching for us for quite some time.

By then it was lunchtime, so we went in search of something open on Good Friday and found a Korean Fried Chicken place, which did nicely for lunch. On the way back we found a lookout over the Hawkesbury region and stopped for a quick look before returning to John's place for a chat and some much needed water.

Overall a good day out and about.
