After a lot of deliberation, we've decided the world was against The Big Lap in 2026, and have decided to postpone that trip for a year. The reasons were multiple. First there was a cyclone that travelled right across the top end and down the West Australian coast, wreaking a fair bit of havoc and making some areas impassible. Then a certain couple of countries decided to start a war in the middle east, driving up fuel prices and more importantly causing uncertainty for supply. Then a second cyclone had a go at the top end. We figured at that point, the omens were poor to attempt this trip this year.
However, all is not lost. Since we have a caravan now, and excess leave, we're taking a two week trip from mid-May. Destination as yet to be determined, but possibly Dubbo and surrounds. (guess we should actually start planning that now that we've booked leave).
So there will be a new series of trip reports coming, but for now that's about it.
